Don't get friends just to get popular. Trust me, that doesn't work out that well. Maybe you could try making a good excuse to talk to her. Then, you could try to get to know her and she could get to know you. But make a good excuse. Not something like, I have to talk to you for a class project. just go and talk 2 her and try and get in the some clubs as her dont worry i had the same problem and i just talked to her and got to know her and now were bestfriends just go for it good luck!!!!!

-join a club shes in, get similar hobbies to her
then yeah, ask her if she wants to do what ever activity you both do together
