Usually if a man and a woman are just friends, it's because the man wants her for more than just a friend, but the woman isn't attracted, but doesnt want to completely cut him off, because he respects her and flatters her. But, if a guy says that he just wants to be friends, but doesn't want to make it official, it's usually because he wants to keep her around for sex, but he just doesn't want her to expect him to commit to her.
