How to become better friends with this girl?

I've known this girl for one school year.

We say the usual 'Hi' and 'Bye.'

We discuss homework and tests sometimes.

But I've never really got into a real conversation with her.

She's friends with all of my friends, and I want to be better friends with her.

Dont be shy,go up and talk to her the way your friends do,sitting back and waiting for something to develope between you will get you no where.
Find something to talk about. Compliment her hair once in a while. Start an inside joke, or come clean and tell one of your friends that knows her. Maybe they can help you out.
What did you do to make all the friends you have now? Make an effort to talk to her outside of class, to introduce the idea that the two of you are more than classmates. Say hi to her at lunch. The next day, say hi and chat a little. The next day, ask if there's a seat free. You know the drill. And on these occasions try to avoid talking about school. Ask her about something personal ex: So what did you do this weekend? Then she'll pobably ask you about yours, and Voila! you have a conversation going!

As you said that she is friend of all your friends that means she doesn't have problem making in friends. I think you have reserve kind of nature. If you want to start conversation with her you need a place where you can talk to her without hesitation. for example ask her can she give you company in finding gift for any of your relatives if she agrees you will come to know that she also interested in talking to you and you also get time to have a good start.
