If you have a class with him, just ask him about a problem you are doing or clarification on an assignment. If he doesn't know, you can giggle together about how equally clueless you are. Just be like ';hey you have nice eyes, hair, a smile, etc';. Then proceed to ask them some generic question such as ';where you're from'; or ';how's it going';, then go and ask if he'd be interested in catching a movie, having lunch, going to a park or w.e else...make sure you don't come off too strong though...just be kinda silly and nervous with the whole introduction.
Smile a lot! Are they in your class? Comment on your teacher or an assignment you ';don't get';. Works every time! You can plan a study date, where you go to the library and, well, it's the perfect excuse to learn more about each other while you're cramming. Good luck!
